Graphic designer will offer instruction geared toward providing practical branding and design knowledge to small business owners and marketing professionals.
Alison Caron, owner of Alison Caron Design, will be teaching a series of courses at the Cape Cod Community College WERC campus in downtown Hyannis for the upcoming fall semester. Each of the three courses will focus on a different Adobe program and provide small business owners and marketing professionals with the practical skills needed to create effective branding and marketing materials. The first in the series, Introduction to Photoshop, will also appeal to anyone interested in enhancing digital photos.
In addition to her graphic design work with a variety of regional and national businesses, Caron works as an instructor for the Geek Girl tech conferences and has worked as the creative director for various glossy publications. This past summer she worked as an instructor at the college's West Barnstable campus. This will be Caron's first time teaching at the community college's WERC campus and she looks forward to bringing a fresh perspective to the courses.
Each course will be held on Monday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and offer 12 hours of instruction. The only prerequisite for these beginner-level courses is a general familiarity with using a computer, email, and the Internet. The courses are being offered consecutively to allow students the option of attending all three. Each course costs $159.
Introduction to Photoshop begins on September 8 and will focus on methods of editing digital photos. The second in the series, Introduction to Adobe InDesign, begins on October 6 and delves into creating sophisticated printed materials. Beginning on November 11 students will learn to create logos and other graphics in Introduction to Adobe Illustrator.
